This blog is about a Tamil song "Evanao Oruvan vasikiraan" in a movie Alaipayudhe.
This is a best example,How music dominates over lyrics sometimes.
we tend to loose the wonderful meaning behind the lyrics and the whole effort of a lyrist go in vein.
The worst thing here is the musician cant be blamed.
The least thing can be,The song could have been picturaised in a way to portray this wonderful lyrics.
This song is a fine example to me.
If you feel the same, enjoy the meaning and leave your footprints.
Let me put a short note on the situation of this song in "Alaipayudhe"
Shalini had to go to a medical camp where it is in a remote place after she fell in love with Madhavan.
Now, Lovers(Madhavan & Shalini) are departed. Shalini feels the loneliness and sings this song from a medical camp.
To this situation our great vairamuthu had come up with an excellent lyrics.
The lyrics goes as a conversation between shalini and a flute.
Flute, think of a Flute with holes made and lied down on a floor somewhere.
Accidently it listens the music of an another flute played by a flutist.
sings the following lines with the lots of emotion and expressions "When it will be picked and played by some"
----------------------------------------------------------------
evanoa oruvan vaasikkiRaan...
iruttilirundhu naan yaasikkiRaen
thavam poal irundhu yoasikkiRaen
adhaith thavaNai muRaiyil naesikkiRaen
kaettu kaettu naan kiRangugiRaen kaetpadhai evanoa aRiyavillai
kaattu moongilin kaadhukkuLLae avan oodhum ragasiyam puRiyavillai
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Shalini replies to this saying
"I am also like u right now and i dont have as many eyes as you have to express and cry"
------------------------------------------------------------------
pullaanguzhalae poonguzhalae neeyum naanum oru jaadhi
uLLae uRangum aekkaththilae unakkum enakkum sari paadhi
uRakkam illaa munniravil en uL manadhil oru maaRudhalaa
irakkam illaa iravugaLil idhu evanoa anuppum maaRudhalaa
endham soagam theervadhaRku idhu poal marundhu piridhillaiyae
andhak kuzhalaip poal azhuvadhaRku aththanai kaNgal enakkillaiyae
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Imagination at its peek in the lines of Vairamuthu. They are damn sure Vaira Varikal...
I feel very happy and proud to dedicate this blog to him...Hats off VM..
