Alaipayudhe manam Vairamuthuvin varikalil

This blog is about a Tamil song "Evanao Oruvan vasikiraan" in a movie Alaipayudhe.

This is a best example,How music dominates over lyrics sometimes.
we tend to loose the wonderful meaning behind the lyrics and the whole effort of a lyrist go in vein.
The worst thing here is the musician cant be blamed.
The least thing can be,The song could have been picturaised in a way to portray this wonderful lyrics.

This song is a fine example to me.
If you feel the same, enjoy the meaning and leave your footprints.

Let me put a short note on the situation of this song in "Alaipayudhe"

Shalini had to go to a medical camp where it is in a remote place after she fell in love with Madhavan.
Now, Lovers(Madhavan & Shalini) are departed. Shalini feels the loneliness and sings this song from a medical camp.

To this situation our great vairamuthu had come up with an excellent lyrics.
The lyrics goes as a conversation between shalini and a flute.

Flute, think of a Flute with holes made and lied down on a floor somewhere.
Accidently it listens the music of an another flute played by a flutist.
sings the following lines with the lots of emotion and expressions "When it will be picked and played by some"

----------------------------------------------------------------

evanoa oruvan vaasikkiRaan...
iruttilirundhu naan yaasikkiRaen
thavam poal irundhu yoasikkiRaen
adhaith thavaNai muRaiyil naesikkiRaen

kaettu kaettu naan kiRangugiRaen kaetpadhai evanoa aRiyavillai
kaattu moongilin kaadhukkuLLae avan oodhum ragasiyam puRiyavillai

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Shalini replies to this saying

"I am also like u right now and i dont have as many eyes as you have to express and cry"

------------------------------------------------------------------

pullaanguzhalae poonguzhalae neeyum naanum oru jaadhi
uLLae uRangum aekkaththilae unakkum enakkum sari paadhi
uRakkam illaa munniravil en uL manadhil oru maaRudhalaa
irakkam illaa iravugaLil idhu evanoa anuppum maaRudhalaa
endham soagam theervadhaRku idhu poal marundhu piridhillaiyae
andhak kuzhalaip poal azhuvadhaRku aththanai kaNgal enakkillaiyae

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Imagination at its peek in the lines of Vairamuthu. They are damn sure Vaira Varikal...

I feel very happy and proud to dedicate this blog to him...Hats off VM..

Lets Save our Earth for future

Let me start congratulating Tavant Green team effort to make all of us to spend few hours towards a world cause. I believe in words “Small spark can fire a forest”. I should not have used this proverb as it is against to the forestation.

I hope we don’t let things which does damage to our home. If that’s true why don’t we care of our earth? It is our home and our duty to save them.

Let us try to come out from our routine life and think a bit what goes around us and how we could contribute to save this planet. I am not asking all of us to pull a rock with rope just very simple things which result in to great benefits.

Let me put up my thoughts, How we could contribute a bit as an Individual on this World Environment Day to save this planet.

1. Let us switch off the unused lights whenever we see.
Let us not use the lifts unless it is necessary.
Let spend less time at TV and switch to some other mode of entertainment.
Let us not leave any electronic devices in stand by

I hope if we follow at least any one of the above said points, we could save the considerable amount of power and no need of any N-Deal with other countries.

2. Let us carry our own bag to buy the groceries
Let us go for a single packing which tremendously reduces the number of plastic bags during unpacked

Please read the following facts about plastic. Then we will realize how important we should be very cautious before getting cheaper and free plastic bags.

• Plastic bags are difficult and costly to recycle

• They take around 300 years to photo degrade.

• They break down into tiny toxic particles that contaminate the soil and waterways and enter the food chain when animals accidentally ingest them.

• Mistaking plastic bags for food is commonplace amongst marine animals.

• Add to that the enormous amounts of energy that's used every year in order to manufacture these bags

• “At least 1,300 tons of oil would be consumed daily to produce the shopping bags for supermarkets alone”.

• Environmentally friendly plastic bags" those are biodegradable. These bags take about three years to break down

• The process of breaking down these petrol based bags causes carbon to become methane which is a greenhouse gas.

3. Let us not use tissue papers unless it is required
Let us switch to e-statements for all our bank statements
Let us not exploit by printing some junk documents at our office printer, though it is free of cost. Be cautious about (Ctrl+P)

• Few facts are following how important to reduce the usage of papers

• In 1999, 14 million trees were cut to produce the 10 billion paper grocery bags used by Americans that year alone.

• Paper sacks generate 70% more air and 50 times more water pollutants than plastic bags.

• It takes 91% less energy to recycle a pound of plastic than it takes to recycle a pound of paper. But recycling rates of either type of disposable bag are extremely low, with only 10 to 15% of paper bags and 1 to 3% of plastic bags being recycled, according to the Wall Street Journal.

• Current research demonstrates that paper in today's landfills does not degrade or break down at a substantially faster rate than plastic does.

4. Switch to Fluorescent bulbs over Incandescent bulbs which consume more power than the prior and few points about Incandescent bulbs

• Edison’s Incandescent bulb works by passing the current through a thin filament, heating it until it produces light.
• Approximately 90% of the power consumed by an incandescent light bulb is emitted as heat, rather than as visible light.
• Brazil and Venezuela started to phase them out in 2005, and other nations are planning scheduled phase-outs: Ireland in 2009, Australia in 2010, Canada in 2012, and the U.S. between 2012 and 2014 due to their higher energy usage.
• CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamps) can save over 30 USD in electricity costs over the lamp's lifetime compared to an incandescent lamp and save 2000 times its own weight in greenhouse gases.
I hear your words “No more Incandescent bulbs”.
5. Lets us pool our vehicle which reduces Co2 also the congestion in roads

6. Let’s try to use public Transport System as much as we can

7. Let’s take a pledge to create awareness of how important saving the earth for our future from green house gas.

8. Lets do emission checking for our vehicle regularly

I end this blog with the hope that at least few of the above mentioned points would be followed by all the readers and make this earth safer and better.

My recent wonderful experience at Courtallam

I wish to share the wonderful experience which I had at Courtallam recently with you all. One of my close friend Nazar’s marriage was held at Tenkasi. I had planned to go to Tenkasi a day before the marriage and visit Courtallam and have been asked to do so by an another friend Madhu whose village PulluKattuValasi is close by Tenkasi. After a long time, I had a good break from my routine work. I am wordless to explain the wonderful experience.

When I reached my friends Madhu’s village, it was 2 after noon. First time I had been to such a remote village. I was picked by him in TVS-50 as there is no direct bus from the place I got down. Traveling in TVS-50 in a road all the way to his village is a wonderful experience. The road we use to call it in Tamil as Otthayadi padhai where both the sides full of coconut trees and farm lands. A cool nice breeze from Courtallam touches and refreshes me all the way till his home. As soon as TVS-50 enters his village, a small pond welcomes you where you can see few children playing and taking bath. I was about to jump in to the Pond, luckily he stopped me. As the pond crosses, TVS-50 enters in to many narrow streets where both the sides full of typical village houses (i.e. called as Karai veedu in Tamil). All the ladies in the houses sit in a group and rolling Beedi which is the major source of income for all the families in the village. Madhu also told me few of his village people died of Cancer recently. I had no words to say this time.

As I reached his home, I am just stunned by the warm welcome by his family members and the sweet Nellai Tamil they speak. As I new to this Nellai slang, I felt little difficulty in understanding and learned few words as well. Few words for you all.
Charam - Lungi
Puttuka - some more food.
Ennala - Calling friendly

The hot water was kept ready to take bath in an open place. I was little shy to take bath and later convinced by Madhu’s mom. As I finished bath, I have been served with typical village food with full plate of rice and Sambar. I would have been in trouble in completing that if I wasn’t much hungry. After a few minutes of rest at his home, Madhu took me to his village where we met few of his friends and had good time. Then we started to Old Courtallam which is near by with the promise to his mother that we won’t be taking bath. As I reached there, Madhu could not stop me from taking bath. I bought a new towel there and took a bath till my last wish ends. Then we had hot bacchi and tea. That was such a nice time I ever had.

By the time we returned home, it was nice village evening. After a few refreshments, we had visited his family temple. As i am a Muslim, He scared me initially not to enter inside the temple. I just entered and prayed along with him without listening him.

The next day was the marriage. I started from Madhu’s home at 9 and reached the marriage hall around 9.30 morning. I was the first one among our friends to reach there. I met the bridegroom and asked about other friends who were supposed to come. The Bridegroom wanted to perform prayer before the marriage at Mosque near by. I was asked to accompany him. As soon as I entered in the Mosque, The person sit enquired me with suspicion and about my origin. I felt the difference between the time that I had at the Temple and here. After an hours time, I can see other friends started coming one by one. We all gathered in to bridegrooms room and teasing him. One of my friends Hakeem who has got married recently in the group has taken back all the revenge by teasing the bridegroom like anything. I was just a good watcher observing peacefully and taken few snaps. The marriage ceremony began according to the Muslim rituals.

After the lunch, we all had planned to visit Courtallam which is about 3 K.M away from the place where marriage is held. That is another wonderful experience enjoying the water along with all the friends. Everybody pushes you in to the water where water falls with full speed and you feel it like a stones falling on you or thousands people together hits on your back with full force.

I have heard about Vellandhi Girama Makkal that is innocent village people many times and this is the first time experiencing it.
